The Princess Inside

TRUE LOVE

Her wedding day, the princess inside merges starry-eyed
Her handsome groom kneels across from her, they pledge their love

FOREVER

A home they begin full of love, welcoming children in
He lied, he cannot hide his demons inside

HE CLINGS TO HER

Holes in walls, furniture flies, the children hide
He will change, he tries, she cries

SHE CLINGS TO HIM

She becomes weak, the smile has gone, she cannot sleep
He hates her, a burden she's become, he wants her gone

TEMPORARY

She leaves, she runs, seeking shelter
Her heaven became a living hell, his heart a shell

NIGHTMARE

Wonderful powerful poem. Seems like a lifetime packed into one short poem. I have written so many poems very similar to this! I feel your pain!
